I got to traverse Louisiana twice on my travels. The first time was crossing from Mississippi to Texas, and I raced through the cottonfields and swamps - getting a speeding citation for my troubles at one point from a very accommodating county Sheriff.
The second time was at the other end of my adventures, returning to New York and the Queen Mary 2. Inevitably any adventure is disappointing when it ends, but I was determined to make the most of my journey back, taking in all the states of the Gulf Coast. I made a brief pit stop in New Orleans to visit the graveyard that features in the acid trip in "Easy Rider", but I have spent time in New Orleans before and - great city though it is - I had new places to visit.
One place I planned to visit was the road where Captain America and Billy met their untimely demise in "Easy Rider", but it fell a victim to the schedule. Another famous pair also died in Louisiana - Bonnie and Clyde - and the site of their demise was also on my checklist, but I never quite made it there either. Regrets, I've had a few.
